After over a year of living in our home, we have finally gotten to a point where we can start the renovations we envisioned when purchasing our house. With a baby on the way, the desire to get some of these projects done has only increased tenfold.
The first room we decided to start with was our dining room. Being the most central room in our house, it felt like the best place to start. It was also one of the easier projects on our list. The thing this room needed the most was a fresh coat of paint.
The Before
One of the things we noticed when we moved into our home was that every room was painted the same color – a light shade of blue. I think we wouldn’t have minded this as much if it had been a more neutral color, but blue? The outside of our house is already blue, and the previous owner also painted the front and back porches blue as well, so it felt like a little too much for us.
The Inspo
Lover of Pinterest that I am, I quickly made work of honing what decor style spoke to me. I love the colors and textures of a more boho inspired look, so that is what I ran with.
The After
We decided to paint the top half of the walls Forrester Green by Sherwin Williams, while painting the bottom half Greek Villa (also by Sherwin Williams), which we will be using in other rooms. This gave a fresh pop of color, while also giving that earthy look that I love.
The dining set we owned prior to moving into this house was smaller, as we had only lived in apartments beforehand. We decided to order this dining table and these dining chairs from Amazon. They were affordable, easy to assemble, and gave the exact style I was looking for. I also used tablescaping to hone in on more of a boho feel than a farmhouse feel.
Lastly, we hung up the wall decor. We used a 24x36 print of one of our engagement photos, surrounded by a quote I transferred to canvas as the main focal piece of art.
We plan on adding a bar area sometime in the near future, but for now, I am so happy with the finished product we have. It feels homey, and I love spending meal time here with my husband.
